About Us

Hi, I am Steve..

I have been in the fitness industry since 1997. I have provided sports therapy at many different events including, the London Marathon, the Ultra-Fit challenge, London to Southend bike ride, the London Docklands Regatta and Ladies Henley. I have also provided therapy for members of the England kickboxing team and was massage therapist for the Scottish Ladies Lacrosse team.

As far as my own physical endeavours are concerned, I play football (badly), have run several half-marathons (slowly) and cycled the London to Brighton Bike Ride several times (wobbly). I teach kickboxing and was British Champion for my category in 2003. This qualified me for the England team and enabled me to compete (and win a bronze medal) at the WPKA World Kickboxing championships in Corfu in 2004.

I have been fortunate enough to train alongside world champion fighters such as Master Curtis Page, Michael ‘Venom’ Page, Wez Lucas, Angela Hebden, Natasha Walker, Darren Eli and many more.

I am not, however, a natural athlete and have no particular talent in any sport. I was diagnosed asthmatic at an early age and have had to deal with this condition whenever I train or compete. But with optimistic (yet stern) encouragement from Master Page and the good fortune to have been surrounded by the individuals mentioned above I have more than exceeded my expectations. This I believe indicates that you don’t have to be a “natural” to get fit or to achieve personal goals that may initially seem impossible. All that is required is a genuine desire from within to get active. Bring that desire with you to the sessions and I can provide you with empathy and support and a regime unique for you.

Why Bare Bones Fitness

I chose the name BareBonesFitness because I believe that getting active doesn’t have to be complicated to be effective, that you don’t need lots of expensive equipment and a multitude of different exercises to provide a complete fitness regime. I strive to ensure that sessions are varied, testing and importantly, fun without being prohibitively complex.

I know that Personal Training can be expensive so I try to furnish clients with enough knowledge about their fitness so that they can maintain an active lifestyle without incurring the continued expense of a trainer. However, one of the most important roles a personal trainer can fulfil is one of motivator. So, even though a client may know what they should be doing it is sometimes difficult to get motivated. That is where I can help. Just a quick call or text and I can come over, (or you to me), or maybe just a few words of encouragement and advice is all that’s needed to get you back on track.

Whether you are 16 or 60, whether you want a one-off session or a more comprehensive fitness plan I can design something unique for you.

Sessions can take place at your own home, my home, outside or where-ever you want them to be.

You can train on your own, or with a friend. The choice is yours.
